SKILL TRAINING

Optical Fiber Technician Objective of training:

  • Coordinate activities for installation and commissioning of Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) as per the route plan.

Undertake periodic preventive maintenance activities and ensure effective fault management in case of fault occurrence Under below mentioned subjects :

  • Carrying out inspection of route plan
  • Co-ordinating trenching, laying, jointing and blowing of cables
  • Testing effectiveness of jointing
  • Closing the activity and documenting the test results
  • Patrolling assigned cable routes
  • Carrying out planned maintenance testing and repairs
  • Carrying out condition based maintenance of equipments deployed at POPs
  • Ensure timely response to the change work orders
  • Implement change work order and test effectiveness of change
  • Reporting and documenting the status

Optical Fiber Splicer Objective of training:

By the end of the Training, the participants would be be able to: Ensure efficient splicing of the optical fibre cables and supports in optical fibre installation and in carrying out fibre testing using OTDR and power meter .Under below mentioned subjects:

  • Preparing cable for splicing
  • Carrying out splicing operations
  • Testing effectiveness of the splice through OTDR and power meter tests
  • Closing the activity and documenting the test results

BRF & LOS Survey

FTSL offers RF and line of sight (LOS) services for GSM and back bone sites. We also do the radio engineering for the proposed radio hop. The objectives of RF and LOS survey and the related processes are:

  • Identify right sites without any obstruction in the radio path.
  • Do radio engineering for link budget and systems requirement.
  • Submit detailed survey report to customer.

Optical Fiber Cable Maintenance

Scope of Work for OFC Network Maintenance Patrolling

The maintenance of OFC routes will be under patrollers team. The scope of work includes ,that patrollers team will patrol the total length of OFC routes on daily basis and keep close watch on the cable routes to prevent OFC damage.

Preventive and Corrective Maintenance

All measurements for preventive maintenance shall be carried out as per prior agreed time schedule, which is given by the Customer EIC. The testing of all fibers shall be done, as once in a month for each of the block sections and reports shall be submitted. Any defects observed in the OF cable or in any of the associated equipment shall be attended in consultation with the Customer EIC at site. During every visit to the stations for measurements, shall monitor the condition of the optical equipments installed for any alarms, DG maintenance, Diesel Filling, First level maintenance for DG, AMF Panel, UPS, Fire Alarms Systems, FMC, NMS, NNMS follow up for alarms, order wire, battery voltage, level of distilled water in the secondary cells, top up distilled water if required and observe the condition of the battery charger and electrical installation of the prefabs / building and report to EIC in case any discrepancies are observed.

Student Project

FTSL supports students in doing their project work in telecommunication field.

Excellent lab facility is available for doing the project work.

Students can do the project work in any of the topic mentioned below:

  • Microwave communication
  • Antenna design and testing
  • Mobile networks – GSM , WCDMA (3G) and LTE (4G)
  • Fiber optical networks and GPON

Note : Students can also come-up with their own project ideas in telecom domain.
